I'm looking for something OTHER than a painting to hang on my wall. Does anyone know any good websites with different types of art, such as metal wall art, that I can look at? ALso,nothing to extremely expensive. Any websites like Pier One types of things would be great.

It may not be what you are looking for but I saw on design for a dime last night. They took Silky fabric and cut it into triangles and made it to where they are like a certain to slide on to something. They used piping like for water, that is flexible. They used a "T" hook, kinda like you would for a flag and over lapped them to where they were not flat on the wall. It was very cool. Great, Cheap art.

So basically you want something unique to hang. Have you tried going to estate sales, and even storage places(they have "garage sales" to get rid of people belongings when they don't pay or abandon their things). Also... You could try finding old windows at antique stores and hanging them on the wall. You could pick up some pictures at estate sales and storage units (just make sure the frames are simular in color and/or style) take the pictures out and hang a grouping of the frames only on the wall. YOu could also take the frames stack the in odd angles and wire or nail them together and spray paint them to look like metal. You're cheapest bet i to find something that just grabs you , whether it is wood or even not meant as a wall hanging, and "repurpose" it. If it's not the finish you want than paint it with a metal spray paint.

An inexpensive and different way to decorate your wall (I'm doing this on two opposite walls in my apartment living room and in the bedroom as well as the rooms are small) is to go to a salvage yard and buy two old wood windows. Refinish the frames or leave them rough, whatever appeals to you. I'm having the glass removed and putting mirror in the ones in the living room to reflect the light and view from outside, and in the others I'm putting blown up photographs of the view that's outside the walls, to make it appear as if there really are windows there. I think it's going to look great.

I'm partial to swords personally, Though I also have a large japanese folding fan that I got from a flea market on one wall.
If nothing else strikes your fancy. Portion off a part of the wall that you feel is "bland" and paint it a different color. And then go over it again with some "marbleing techniques" most home improvement places can give advice on those techniques.

I went to my local craft store ( Hobby Lobby) and found a metal art work, it was actually intended to me for outside but I hung in on my wall and it looks very elegant.
The normally put them on clearance in the fall time
I've seen a clock made out of wall candle holders.

I have several different things on the wall that I really love instead of paintings. I have iron work, mirrors, carved wood pieces and Album covers! Just whatever strikes my fancy! Enjoy and experiment. You can always take it down. Godloveya.
