If you are really a police officer then you make decent money (not great- but more than me) why wouldnt you be able to make your payments. Also if you are really a cop you know what benifits & what kinds of help they offer you better than me or anyone else so why are you asking us.

You didn't say why you were losing your home...is it simply a matter of not enough to make ends meet? I think we are all in that boat.

I don't know your exact situation but I'll tell you some of the things I did to squeek by in terrible times and maybe it will help.

Check into assistance programs at-
local churches
community organizations
food banks

Sell anything you don't ABSOLUTELY need- be brutal about this one! It's crazy to worry about moving or storing your "stuff" AFTER you lose the home.

Get a trustworthy room mate to share expenses

Borrow money from family

Call your credit cards and negotiate a 0% balance transfer (if your credit is good)

That's all I can think of for now. If you had 20 years or so to wait- I plan to donate my mothers home to a police officer or fireman when I inherit it. I like the idea of "pay it forward" and supporting the folks with thankless jobs who put their lives on the line for the rest of us.

You are a hero. Hopefully someone can be a hero to you.

I guess the same help is available to police officers as there is for anyone else. Wouldn't they have a union or credit union? Or are you suggesting that they should be given special consideration because of their work? If so, I don't. But I do wish the officer good luck.

Check with your PBA or FOP and see if they have a Police Officers Assistance Trust. If there's a good reason you're having financial problems they can help.
For those civilians out there that are giving smart answers, the POAT is funded by police officers for police officers. We care about our brothers and sisters.

Are you in a union? Go to the union officials and ask. This is usually done through the Union or the State.
