The way I see it, as a person matures they realize everything is not about them but is bigger than just them. With 8 billion people on the earth if you died today how many would not even have known you had ever been born. As you mature you realize that the whole is more powerful and important than the part or individual. The sacrifice is a way of showing that you no longer put yourself first....had not really thought to much about this until right now...

God does not want a sacrifice.
He desires obedience.

Man is the one that needs a sacrifice to reconcile for his own disobedience.
