Call Animal Control or the Humane Society. Someone will come and pick the animal up. A responsible owner will have reported it missing, or, if there is no owner -- the Humane Society can give it any needed medical attention, evaluate its temperment and get it ready for adoption.

Please do not listen to the fools who advise to "scare it away" or "just don't feed it" -- the dog is in danger while roaming the streets.

Call your local animal shelter, like the SPCA or Humane Society, they'll send someone out to pick the dog up. The dog will be given a complete physical along with shots and placed for adoption.

Call the local humane society. You really dont know the background or health condition of this dog, so it may be dangerous to invite him in again. The cat may sense something is off. Also, his owners may be sitting by the phone, waiting for a call.

Check and see if the dog has tags or a collar. If he does than try and contact the owner, and keep your eye out in the paper to see if anyone put an ad in that might be him. If he doesn't, there are two different things you can do. If you want a dog than you should feed him, make him a place to sleep outside(he'll probably want to be an outside dog because of your cat), and make sure that he knows that he's welcome and feels and home. If you don't want a dog and he won't leave your house than you should probably call you counties local humane soceity. They will come get him so he can be adopted into a new home.
Good Luck!

p.s. when i found a stray dog it really liked TV dinners. if you don't want to buy normal dog food yet than you could feed him some of those.

Call animal control - or catch it yourself and take it to the shelter. A stray, unvaccinated dog could contract distemper or rabies and spread the disease. Being stray is no life for a dog!

You might check to see if it has a collar with a name or something on it. My bloodhound got away from me once and if it wasn't for the kind family that found him and called his tags (AKC CAR TAG) in I don't know if I would have ever gotten him back! His family just might be looking for him too.
Also just a thought but any vet or animal pound/shelter would have a microchip reader. If it is chipped they can find his home. I'd call them or take it in.

you want to be careful of stray dogs if you haven't got alot of experience with dogs. if it hasn't had it's vaccinations and you get bitten, you could be asking for alot of trouble. call you local animal control or the police. they're all trained to deal with a potentially aggressive animal.

if you are thinking about taking the dog on yourself, put bits of food out and try not to pressure the dog, it will eventually learn to trust you if you don't force yourself onto it, if your not interested in taking the dog into your own home then call a rescue centre

depends on what y ou want to do with him. do you want to keep him? just feed him?or take him someplace else? first be careful that he doesnt bite you he may have a sore or cut somewhere you cant see... just set some food out for him and let him eat on his own time... if you dont want to keep him call your dog catcher to come get him... this really makes me mad people dump dogs on me all the time if i wanted another dog i would go get one its not our job to clean up a mess that someone else makes because they see a cute little puppie they cant live without and then find out it grows up and isnt perfect...
