This seems very strange to me, I thought all cats were naturally clean. Did he leave him mum too soon? Anyway, perhaps he just needs putting in the litter tray every hour or so when you next have a day off work - as it is possible he is a bit thick (bless him, we can't all be rocket scientists) and does not 'get it'. and when he does 'get it' right - of course, he is the most special boy in the world and he has LOADS of fuss to prove it! :o)) Good luck

One important thing is to clean the places (other than the litter box) where he's used the bathroom really well so he won't smell it and think that it's an OK place to go again. Another thing that helps is whenever he starts pacing around like he's looking for a place to go pick him up and put him in the litter box, and then don't let him leave until he goes. That helps him associate the litter box with going to the bathroom.
Good Luck! =)

Clean where ever he has pee'd in the past thoroughly! Typically, cats don't need to be litter trained, they just have to know where the box is. Sounds like you got that covered. Try keeping it in one spot and keep it CLEAN. Some cats are finicky about that and also about the type of litter. Did you try changing brands or the style of litter. (Clumping, clay, sand, crystals, etc...)

I would also suggest taking the cat to the vet if you haven't already. There could definitely be any number of underlying problems.

Keep persevering because in the end the kitten will use the litter tray, I went through similar with my cats when they were kittens except mine weed in the tray but sh*t on the floor! I was so stressed out and wanted rid of them but couldn't find it in my heart to do it!
Spray an orange scented spray cleaner where the kitten wees as cats hate the smell, also keep the litter tray nice and clean.
Hope this helps.

I had the same problem... The only thing I did was that every time I caught it peeing, I just took him to the litter box, even if the pee was still running. Then I rubbed its pawns gently against the litter sand pretending the cat was covering its pee. It worked! I kept the litter box always int he same place.

For most cats, the litter box must be absolutely clean for them to keep using it. Cats have a sensitive little nose, and they hate catbox smell as much as you do. Clean the box twice a day, and, assuming there is not an underlying illness, you should see major improvement in his litterbox skills.

Try giving him different types of boxes--high sided, low sided, covered, uncovered. You might also try different types of litter in them to see if he prefers a different surface to stand on. How long have you had him? Has he ever used the box to urinate? He's pretty young, so he should be trainable. You could also try keeping him limited to one room with his litterbox options until he gets used to using the box.

Here is what worked for me, I put my cat. food, water, and a litter box in the bathroom and kept him there for about a week. After that, I let him explore that house, and if he went anywhere else, it was back to the bathroom for another week - the small area forces him to be more choosey about where he goes to the bathroom, and after about 2 times, he sought out the bathroom for eliminating.

Just try to be patient, and keep placing him in there--and kind of rub his paws in the litter as you do.

Male cats are especially prone to urinary tract infections, so please have him checked out. This can be a very urgent thing, so do it fairly quickly, to be safe.
