It has been almost two years since I had them pierced. The first few months were fine… then all of a sudden, constant infection…I tried to avoid nickel – but I still get redness, clear discharge, and itchiness (not much soreness). The skin around the holes looks bad. I don’t get allergy to metal elsewhere – necklaces, rings, belt buckles are never a problem. I tried Claire’s solution, Neosporin, alcohol, hydro-peroxide, dial soap, salt water soak. Nothing worked and they only make the skin around the piercing very irritated. I’ve seen a doctor and he said I’d better take them out and let them close. I did – for four months. But the itchiness just wouldn’t stop – and it was so itchy last week that I put them back in (didn’t really hurt at all). Now the discharge started again. What do I do? Shall I try platinum? I really don’t want to give up. I don’t like any other jewelry besides earrings.

Platinum is about the most allergy-free metal out there in jewelry. A jeweler can solder platinum posts to your earrings--it won't be cheap, but it is better than the physical reactions you are getting.

Metal allergies often appear over a span of time, so it's not unusual for you to have no perceivable problems during the first few months. As you had more exposure to the metal in your ears, your body's reaction to it ramped up.

You are correct that the 24k gold posts are almost worthless because the metal is so soft. If you do try gold posts again, please make certain that you use only yellow gold; white gold more often than not contains nickel in its alloy makeup.

I read the answer regarding sterling silver. I'm glad the answerer found an earring post that worked for her, but it is highly unusual for someone who displays metal allergies to be able to wear sterling ear posts. If you decide to try that route, please watch yourself for allergic reactions very carefully.

Since you are displaying metal allergy reactions, do not leave earrings in at night. Firstly, it is a good thing to give your ears a break from the irritant. Secondly, and more importantly, a severe allergic reaction can occur during the night without you being aware of it till your normal waking time or until the reaction causes enough discomfort to awaken you. Neither scenario is good.

There is another possible solution--let the piercings grow in and try to wear clip earrings. Yes, they seem old fashioned, but they may not irritate you and you could always have pierced earrings converted to clips if you wanted to.

Good luck.

It's important to say that tinnitus is a symptom and not a disease. Some people will have tinnitus because their Cochlea is damaged. And in a few, it could be caused due to hearing loss. But of course, the most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noises. The noise can be a sudden burst, or it could be a constant banging that hits the ear drum and travels inside.

A good guide you can read about tinnitus and some good natural remedies can be found here: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

Try platinum jewelry. There is metal sensitivity in my family. I can't wear anything less than gold, and my sister can only wear platinum, it's supposed to be easier on the skin than gold if you are sensitive!

Have you tried a sterling silver? My ears break out easy also. I can wear any other jewelry anywhere and it doesnt break me out, but sterling silver is about all I can wear in my ears. Dont get sterling silver plated either, Make sure its real sterling silver.

it does no longer unavoidably be ALL on your techniques, yet your theory of him certainly would be. Insert "toothpaste" for God and you'd be attentive to how God could be outdoors your techniques.
