Never met someone who was evil. That doesn't mean that that doesn't exist, merely that I've never encountered it. The question becomes, are they crazy or evil? Hitler. He did evil stuff, but was he insane, or does that not matter? Is insanity an excuse for such attrocious behavior, or do we shrug and say "evil."
I've always had a problem with the word evil, since I generally think it just implies lack of understanding. If something is evil, you can hate it and never have to question your hatred or try to understand it's actions. Which I would think is dangerous to any society. After all, when "witches" were evil, an awful lot of innocent people died.
I'd have to think a good long time before I wrote anyone or anything off as evil.

That really depends on who you ask, but I think it varies from person to person. By this I mean some people are born that way, and for others it comes down to their mental state at the time they committed the activity. The Discovery Channel has a show called Most Evil which is about a psychologist who looked into this very question and developed a scale from 1-22 (22 being the highest one could go) for evil. The BTK killer was the only one showcased in the show that was the most evil of serial killers.

If the persons intention is to commit an evil act, then this would make the action and the person, both evil. Most actions are done without the intention of actually doing evil, but more the selfishness of the person and disregard of the consequences of this action

Why would someone do something evil if they were not an evil person? If you're a good person, you won't do something evil. So, I think it's the exact opposite. Actions are just actions, but evil people make them evil.

It is not what goes into a man that makes him evil but what comes out of him. What is in his heart. I use to believe that only actions were evil and that basically people were good....I am not so sure of that any longer having dealt with prisoners researched mass murders around the world....there are some people who truly seem to have no concern for others at all and have no conscience......when you meet them there is a very irry feeling around them

I don't believe that people are evil. But, I do believe that some people enjoy doing evil things (making evil decisions and taking evil actions)...and that makes them appear to be evil.

When you wipe the dirt off a window, you have a clean window and it was clean all the time under the dirt. What humans think can be evil and there actions as well, stemming from evil thoughts.

Out of the evil desires of our hearts come evil words and thoughts and actions. But who are we? What is it that makes up self?? I think people have the knowledge of good within, but when they allow the evil desires out too often, they become emersed in that evil.
