You wanna live in Ireland mate. Paid €4,000 in the last 2.5 years and not finished yet. €60 to have a check up. €600 for a canal, €80 for a straight filling, €700 for a crown, and thousands for braces. It is crazy here. The government puts 21%VAT on dentistry because having teeth apparently is a luxury here. Plus all our dentists drive Mercs and Beamers
Rant over
BTW my dentist works very hard

That is why many dentists are earning near on a 100k a year!!
My artificial tooth fell out and got lost whilst on the plane home from hols last week. I cannot claim on my holiday insurance apparently, no idea why but can't and there are no NHS dentists in our area. I cannot afford a private one so am resigned to having a horrible gap until I have saved up enough to get it replaced (at a cost of around £1500), so that should be in around 5 years if I'm lucky. Life just kicks you up the @rse sometimes!! It's all a big money making scam.

The fee does not sound unreasonable for the time required for either false teeth or the cleaning. In fact, there are people in the US who would LOVE to get dentures for that low a fee.
My Londoner is coming in tomorrow morning (Friday) and I can't wait to tell her about all the complaints here about NHS. She continues to come back to the US to see me twice a year to get her teeth cleaned, saying that nobody in the UK knows how to do it properly. And... she is a dental hygienist!

There is no doubt dentistry is becoming increasingly expensive, and for many it is simply unaffordable. Much can be attributed to the inflation risen the world over. Many dentists have moved to set up practice in Dubai and Thailand. Somehow India is one country that is holding fort with the vast talent it has. A good number are capable of providing you Hollywood like dream smile. Make your search for Affordable Hollywood dream smile dentistry in India and enjoy your catch.

The price you are quoting is not NHS. They have a set scale of fees. Try contacting your local health authority to help you find an NHS dentist near you who is taking on ne patients. They do not HAVE to treat you for everything on NHS so you need to check first.

You got it! My husband has been having trouble with his wisdom teeth, and I called an oral surgen (the only one that will remove a wisdom tooth) and he told me one hundred and fifty dollars (American) to remove one tooth, without complication. To get dental insurance you will have to pay a lot of money, and they don't want to cover the basic stuff.
It is a scam!
