Go to West Wales, to The St Brides Hotel, Saundersfoot. It's a wonderful hotel, I was there last month and I am going back for 2 nights next week, at the moment the are doing a special offer of £75.00p per person per night if you stay 2 nights or ore nad that includes dinner or one of their spa treatments each....check it out.

BTW I own a hotel myself in Wales so I am a good judge.

North Wales is where the scenery is:
Snowdonia for mountains
Castles at Conwy, Harlech, Caernarfon, Beaumaris to name a few
And probably the most beautiful place to visit and stay is Portmeirion. See the website - gorgeous. It's where the Prisoner was filmed.

North Pembrokeshire. St Davids area. Sandy beaches and coves, friendly people, amazing pool of arts and craft talent. Go to Solva. It's a beautiful harbour village with a nice pub called the harbour inn.

Although it is North - Betws y Coed up the A5 is stunning and not too expensive place to stay - you will be amazed by the scenery when you awake the next day - and also not too far to explore the mountain scenery or coast.

llanberis is a beautifill little village on the shore of a huge lake.the train that goes up mount snowdonia leaves from llanberis and its well worth the trip, there is also an old slate mine that is now a working museum, and hydro mountain which is totally mind boggling, and to top it all off its not bad for a night out on the piss.
