I can speak new york slang for when i visit new york. I talk like a redneck when i go to the midwest. and i can speak arizona slang and hawian slang for when i go to certain states i dont need to learn other languages for other countries because i have no desire to move there... They need to learn the language BEFORE they come here!

It is funny really I just read the asker´s sentences and this person "just forgiven" and they are complaining about how some foreigners don´t speak English and these two can´t even write English properly, I know that when referring to someone´s children you say "their children" not "there children" and that the correct expression is "it pisses me off to no end", hahaha, racist and dumb what a world , by the way I am Mexican and I live in Mexico and don´t go around whining about how Americans who live in my city ( and there are some ) only know how to say gracias,so go ahead and insult me you know you will.....racist

I agree that it is a good idea to know the main language of a country before you decide to live there--or at least be actively attempting to learn like taking classes once you arrive. Some of the people you are referring to don't even bother to try to learn. HOWEVER---stop being a hater when you can't even spell English words correctly or use them in a grammatically correct fashion. EIGTHER? THERE MANY CHILDREN? Come on, now. That's just embarrassing.

Hello lilflashi !It doesn't really piss me off because I know that is difficult for some people to learn another language specially if they are grown ups. But is not impossible! I live in México and it really gives me a good impression when I see that a foreigner who is visiting or working here tries at least to learn the language, that means that he/she took their time to learn a little bit more about my country. Take care!

Not really. Since most Americans can barely speak english at all, let alone read. Or spell. Don't get angry about it, when your ultimate grandparents came to the USA, they couldn't speak it either. Who cares if you occasionally can't communicate with someone? You're just pissed becuse we don't all have your obviously stellar education level.
And I've never know learning a bit of a foreign language to hurt anybody. After all, I know that most imigrants and tourists speak english much better than I speak their language.

Yes it is a good I idea for them to learn English before hand, but for some it may be impossible. I would recommending trying to study Spanish yourself it is a beautiful language. I am learning it myself and it is not easy especially since I am not immersed in it 24 7.
I hope you can get some patiences for those learning English.

Ooh! you may have quite spat your dummy out. Give it a relaxation all you persons within the States who suppose you are the one nation that exists! You are in a minority, so much citizens of the States appear on britain as a sister country.I do not care how new or historical you're, you are one among many. We all have our traditions. The rationale you do not have a good time Guy Fawkes Day is that it is not your historical past, it is ours.Same because the rationale we do not have a good time Thanksgiving day, it is your culture no longer ours. Remember, largest is not consistently first-rate.

Yes, I agree that everyone should learn English, but hey, it's not easy. You try learning another language.
We Americans are so impatient. I lived in a foreign country and the people were patient with me while I learned their language.

How can the asker know that Spanish speaking people can´t spell correctly in their own language since he just said he doesn´t speak any other language but English and he himself can´t even spell correctly in his native language? I think he just lost it with this question and doesn´t know how to justify himself or get out of it, pitiful really or pathetic maybe?

English is a very difficult language to learn. How many different languages do you speak personally. Stop being so judgmental, give them a break. They are probably learning, however, when they try are probably dealing with people with attitudes such as yours, self righteous. Hope your day gets better. God bless

Yeah, right. Because the Americans are famous worldwide for their multilingual skills. It's a knowm fact that, wherever they go, they display their fluency in the language of the country hosting them...
And just so there are no misunderstandings here, I'm American born and bred.
