You can't smoke enough pot to OD. Before you could get anywhere near there, the herb would render your limbs useless and cause you to pass out. In order to get a lethal dose of THC (the active compound in MJ), you'd have to have pure extract injected into you. We are literally talking about pounds of MJ to get enough THC to kill you. And you'd have to be able to smoke it within a very short amount of time.

You can most definitly OD on LSD and Heroin.

No one has fatally overdosed on pot. (Someone may have died from a rare severe allergic reaction, but you wouldn't say anyone overdosed on macadamia nuts, for instance...) The physical amount of smoke you would have to inhale or plant matter you'd have to swallow is basically impossible and that would kill you before the THC did.
It's possible for someone who never smokes to smoke way too much too fast, and get nauseous, dizzy, and have to lie down. This could be informally called 'overdosing,' but they're in no real danger.

It is *theoretically* possible to OD on acid. In practice, this does not happen because LSD is active in micrograms. The amount in an entire sheet is nowhere near the lethal dose. The only way you could obtain a lethal amount is if you were the manufacturer- it would be prohibitively expensive.
I think it's been done once or twice. Intentional suicide. I have no reference on that, though- look it up yourself.

And why are you wondering if it is possible to overdose on heroin?
DUH, obviously. It happens all the freakin' time. Chemically, heroin is at least as easy to fatally OD on as alcohol and Tylenol- practically, it happens so often because tolerance varies and there is no purity regulation on the black market.

You can overdose on anything. Even water. Not that long ago a Japanese man died of nicotine poisoning after entering a smoking contest with some friends. Another woman about 5 years ago died from drinking too much coffee. So in essense you could die from Overdosing on Pot. It is rare but, yes it can happen. However, acid and especially Heroine people die all the time from overdosing. Heroine is a highly addictive drug and people often have to take more and more of it to reach that intial high they had when they first started taking the drug. I hope this info helps you. Take care and good luck.

Given that it's possible to overdose on WATER, then I'll have to say that it's possible to overdose on anything more dangerous than water (which would seem to be just about everything).

Whether an overdose is practical or likely, however, is another question. It certainly happens for heroin all the time. For the other two... not so much. Even though LSD (or acid) is one of the most potent drugs known to man, most sources suggest that there has not been even one reported overdose from it (others suggest that there was one case), and for cannabis (or pot) there has only been about one reported case.

If you want to get technical, tests suggest that a lethal does of THC (the most active chemical in cannabis) is 42 mg/kg of body weight, and for raw consumption it's 730 mg/kg. The reason there are so few overdoses is that the lethal level is about 40,000 times the level needed to get high. For LSD, studies suggest a lethal dose is somewhere between 0.2-1 mg/kg. That means a lethal level is anywhere from 700 to 3500 times the amount needed to get high (the one supposed death injected what would be 3,000 doses of the drug).

Dosage for heroin varies broadly, which is why it is so much more lethal than the other drugs. Frequent users usually build up a tolerance which may then crash at a later date, causing a 'normal' dose for them to suddenly become lethal. This is bad stuff. Stay away from it!

Heroin would be your best possible choice. If you are doing a paper on overdose. Because, heroin users are never sure of the potency of the drug they are taking. The potency of the drug varies from very low to very high. And it has in the last few years been increasing in potency. You should be able to find a great deal of information on the subject also. Lethal doses of all of these are possible, but a lethal dose of marijuana or LSD is extremely unlikely. In order to achieve fatal toxicity of cannabis, the drug in marijuana, it would have to be administered intravenously, because it takes as much as is found in 21 typical joints, and would have to be ingested all at once. The lethal dosage of LSD is estimated to be at least 10 times the dosage of a typical heavy user. There are no confirmed cases of death due to overdose of cannabis or LSD.

Heroin (note spelling) is a different story. The lethal dosage for a non-addict falls within the range of dosages that might be taken by an addict, though the lethal dosage for an addict becomes extremely high. Heroin is more likely to cause fatality due to drug interaction, but ultimately up to 1% of heroin users die of overdoses anually.

I'd say to OD on pot is very uncommon, but acid and heroin could easily happen.

you can OD on anything, even vitamin c. OD doesn't mean you'll die, it just means you have dangerously high levels of whatever that substance is.
