Sometimes its easy to tell, other times especially from hong kong they have factories set up just to make illegal copies and often these are very hard to tell apart from an original as they will have a sealed box, professionaly printed dvd's and covers and even a fake hologram on the box. The picture quality and contents of the disc will be an exact replica of the original.

if you buy a cheap new DVD from ebay this is often what you will get sent.

Only by comparing the type of ink used from an genuine copy can I tell the difference on some copys I have had.

first, take a seem on the dvd case. if the printing high quality is adverse and it bears no regulatory decal then it somewhat is a pretend. 2d, if the reproduction has not extra constructive aspects, then certainly it somewhat is a pirated one. yet often times, there are pirated copies with extra constructive aspects so in case you're unclear, u can constantly tell by potential of scrutinizing the known of the reproduction itself. if it is clean, then it is an unique, if it is grainy or pixelated, then it somewhat is a pretend.

The label on the disk is usually a good give-away.

But if the image has been printed on to the disk and its hard to tell, check your dvd case for the official hologram on the back.

It'll be a printed CD, not a label stuck on is first thing i'd look for, also the casing being quality sleeve rather than a photocopy.

Holograms on the cover, copyright info printed, and people aren't walking in front of the camera when your watching the film :-)

I've always found that if there are no subtitle or audio options that work - it's a pirate.
