LOL to Chris and TTC ;)

The concensus seems to be that sarcasm is rarely understood in YA, and thus should be used with caution, if at all. I guess y'all are right.

Piratera, you asked for some irony. I've included some in response to one of the recent questions of KathrynB's, to whom, I am awarding Best Answer..because she answered first, and so my answer to her question gets slightly more exposure by ending up in her Best Answers list. Not self-serving exactly, because I don't expect nor do I aim to ever rise beyond level 3 here, but when I put some time (way too much time actually) into answering a question, it's a comfort to know that maybe 5 to 6 other people will actually read it.

No so often as we might hope. It seems to be a lost art. I, for one, find the Ted Haggard story to be the ultimate irony.

Irony and sarcasm seem to slip by most. I use sarcasm a lot, and I just gave it up here because it always seems to get taken as face value which is not what I intend.

irony is about as good as hypocrisy. you'll find plenty of that here. but, if you are looking for anybody to understand, that's rare.

You SEE a lot of it.

It's just not all that effective when it's used, unfortunately.
