We have been trying to change the phone provider at our flat for over a month. Bulldog acknowledge the line has been disconnected but wont take the markers off the line so that another company can use it. Everytime we phone them they say that the line will be returned in 5 working days. It never is. They say the same thing each time. Help!

My in laws had the same problem with Talk Talk, they wanted the line to go back with BT.

The providers like Bulldog, Talk Talk etc, only have control of the services, not over the line, if the line has been disconnetced the only people who can reconnect the phone line is BT.

Get hold of BT and they can reconnect the line for you free of charge in a few hours, and they are the only ones that will able to get passed the markers, Bulldog cannot do anything after the service has been disconnected.

They should return the line back to BT with out any fuss but if they are not then you have a couple of options.

1. Phone Bulldog and complain again. If not getting anywhere tell them you will contact OFCOM.

2. Ask BT to do this they may not be able to help as they follow the same laws and regulations that OFCOM have put in place meaning that they cannot force the line away from Bulldog.

3. Have a new line fitted, this would cost £124.99 and should only be as a last messure.

Bulldog operate using whats called LLU, that means that the line has been unplugged from the BT equiptment and put into Bulldogs own hardware. Bulldog have to unplug your line from their own equiptment and then give it back to BT.

When LLU shows on a companies system it will say there is a Marker on the line and needs a MAC code, a MAC code will not work in an LLU situation. And as more companies start using LLU god help us all, BT might not be the best but but it was a lot less hassle when they owned it all.

OFCOM have to get their fingers out, they are too busy making sure that BT is operating properly and not bothering about wither other companies are behaving themselves. Ok my rant is over

Try contacting BT to put in a completely new line, if Bulldog are being pedandic about this matter, I cant see any other way, In any event its worth trying to talk to BT about the problem and see what they say
