Well it sounds like you are doing an excellent job with your cats and you care for them alot.

Feline acne is not contagious it just sounds like you were unfortunate enough to get several cats that are allergic to plastic and ceramic. Which is quite common. Both dishes are pourous and can hold bacteria.

At the Vet Clinic that i worked at for a couple of years we sae this a lot and recommended that the owners feed and water the cats out of metal food and water bowls. This worked really well on a majority of the cats. It also worked on my cats so i do recommend it.

You also mentioned that after you used some of the medicine on them that their chins looked irratated. You should stop using it so often. Just like when we use blemesh fighting substances and prolonged use irratates our skin the same goes for the cats.

I've heard that using glass or metal bowls for food and water help with this issue. Their chins rest on the edge of the bowl, and plastic can cause irritation than glass or plastic. No, it isn't contagious, but more than one cat could have sensitivity to the plastic.
