It is where he will go to be trained for his MOS which is his job, his specialty. Here is a link that will list a whole bunch of MOS's and where the schools for them are located. http://www.marinemoms.us/USMC/usmc-mos.asp

Semper Fi! By the way please tell him thank you for serving! oh and get in good by impressing him. Let him know that you know tomorrow, November 10th is the Marine Corps 231st birthday. I make a Marine Corps birthday cake for hubby every year!

MOS is an acronym for Military Occupational Specialty, used by the US Army. It is technical or occupational training that follows boot camp or other basic training. Let me warn you though: if your boyfriend is not authorized to live off-post, living with him may create an unecessary financial hardship on him. Amy recruits do not make a lot of money. Additionally, having you there could be a distraction from his training, which is intense. Many off-duty hours are required for study; and then there are his other duties to consider. May I suggest you wait the three months and see where his permanent posting will be?

MOS is his military occupational specialty - essentially it's his job. After his basic training he has to go to another school to learn how to do his MOS. After that he will likely move to another duty station and be assigned to a unit where he will start working. At that point if he is allowed to live off base you will be able to move in with him. In a lot of places, low-ranking servicemembers must live in the barracks, in which case you would not be able to live with him. During his MOS school he should be living in the barracks as well, so you will not be able to live with him there. My husband is in the Army, and when he was in his school I wasn't even allowed to see him. That's how it works in the Army, and I'm sure it is similar in the Marines.
