Can anyone shed some light on what is a bit of a mystery. I'm pretty IT savvy, but I admit that I am at a bit of a loss to understand why `Limewire' should suddenly disappear from my startup/system tray, then not `run' at all when I choose/click on it from my desktop or anywhere else. I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling it, but even though it reinstalled it, it still would not `run'. ????

I'm very grateful for the suggestions already offered for my problem, but perhaps I should've explained it better:

Automatic updates has interfered with some of my programs and removed a particular program from my startup/system tray. The program is Limewire. I have used this for some time now without problems and so have narrowed down the problem occurring `only' after the automatically installed updates.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS
I have uninstalled, then, reinstalled Limewire without any problems. However, it will not `run'. I have also tried disabling firewalls, antivirus and antispyware, then reinstalled again. Not that I ever needed to do this before, as it always installed in the past without problems or altering settings.

NARROWED DOWN THE POSSIBLE CAUSE
According to the `System Restore' log I cannot restore to a time before the installed updates. This also confirms that it is the `updates' which caused the problems.

Hi
Yeah surely the problem is that your antivirus is blocking limewire. You can change setting in from the option menu of your antivirus. I think you must be using AVG or Mcafee. This usually happens wit these anti virus. And dont forget to allow it from firewall. Go to control panel> window firewall> expectations and click on 'limewire'. This will defintly help you
take care

You may find that you have recently removed a program and accidently removed a dependant component for the program you mentioned.

What have you taken out recently?
