It's 66 books written by many different people over 1500 years. There are certain scriptures and gospels that have been intentionally left out of the current day Bible. Additionally, it has been hand copied and translated from the original languages so often that it would be impossible to get a real sense of what the original authors wrote down. There are 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.

Inspired by God; written (humanly) by some 40 persons over about 1500 years. Great care has been taken, over the centuries, to accurately make copies -- at least at least as nearly as a photocopier now does. The finding of the Dead Sea Scroll of the Book of the Prophet Isaiah (a thousand years erlier than until then existing copies) shows the great accuracy of the copies.

==============================

Question: "Who were the authors of the books of the Bible?"

Answer: Ultimately, above the human authors, the Bible was written by God. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible was "breathed out" by God. God "superintended" the human authors of the Bible so that while using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what God wanted to be said. The Bible is not dictated from God, but it is perfectly guided and entirely inspired by Him.

Humanly speaking, the Bible was written by approximately 40 men over the course of 1500 years. Isaiah was a prophet, Ezra was a priest, Matthew was a tax-collector, John was a fisherman, Paul was a tentmaker, Moses was a shepherd. Despite being written by approximately 40 authors over approximately 1500 years, the Bible does not contradict itself and does not contain any errors. The authors all present different perspectives, but they all proclaim the same one true God, and the same one way of salvation (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Few of the books of the Bible specifically name their author.

The Bible is written word of God. It was penned by man...man being like an instrument, if you will.

2 Peter 1: 20 & 21: " For YOU know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit."

The Bible...(biblia meaning little books in Greek) is made up of 66 books. The Hebrew Scriptures(Old Testament) is made up of 39 books and the Greek Scripture (New Testament) is made up of the remaining 27 books. Together they form but a single work...a complete whole.

2 Timothy 3: 16 & 17: "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

Many people wrote the books that were later collected into the Bible. We don't know for sure who they were or what their motivation was. Many of them probably borrowed ideas from other books that have disappeared. And many, if not most, of the books were edited by other writers over the years since, and we don't know for sure what was added or cut and the editors' reasons for doing so.

Man wrote the bible, that is the reason why I do not believe in the bible. it is just a book of short stories that cannot by any means be proven that those events even happened. the bible is based on faith, and not fact.
It is however the best selling novel ever.

God wants you to know that evil men wrote the bible and to follow those men will lead you away from his love and desire for you to have peace and love during your time on earth.
