Does anyone know the (average) mileage for a Jeep Liberty. I am looking for ballpark here. I want to buy one but I want to make sure I won't end up with something that gets 10 mpg. Thanks!

If mileage is a big concern, the Liberty may not be for you. If you don't need off-road capability, get the 2wd model by all means. You may want to consider the Compass.

I have a friend that gets 16mpg on his Liberty around town. Not great by any means.

Be aware that your actual milage will likely be LESS than the government posted milage figures on the window sticker....they always are for some reason. Guess they "test" them under ideal conditions....light acceleration, no A/C etc.

Are you asking what is the avg. MPG (miles per gallon) on a Jeep Liberty? If so, ballpark ranges depend on the engine model. These are figures submitted to the EPA directly from Jeep:

17 city / 22 hwy - avgs. for the 6 cylinder models
21 city / 26 hwy - avgs. for the 4 cylinder models

Overall with these, more engine power = more gas consumption.

My 2002 Jeep Liberty gets about 16-18 mpg. It seems like I am always filling up my gas tank, changing tires or replacing the brakes on my Liberty.

go to the dealer... they have the number posted on the display sticker in the window. or call them for a ballpark, if you dont want to take a trip down there. The Jeep Liberty site might have something too.

When i first bought my piece of sh@# liberty it got 12.5 on the freeway....now that i have learned to drive 55-60 on the freeway i can get up to 20 mpg
The car has a bunch of other problems, the thing that pissed me off the most is that the leather wore off the steering wheel at 24,000 miles, and one dealer said it wasn't covered, so i had to go to another dealer who agreed to repair it.
The windows wobble, the trans slams into gears, the seats get stained by the slightest drop, it has had like 3 recalls, it has no glove box to speak of, and it really isnt that big on the inside.
i will NEVER buy an american car again...i have no pity for the idiots in detroit, they make a junk product. I tried to "buy american" and I ended up with garbage.
