Yes. Tail swishing is an aggressive move cats make. Some kitties just aren't that lovey dovey and require patience. The only way to get one of mine to pay attention to me is if I completely ignore her for a while. She can't stand it and eventually jumps in my lap (but just long enough for me to almost pet her)!

In most cases, he could be angry, but if he's little, your attentions could be making him frisky - either way, if you keep it up, you may get mauled - you may want to pay attention to how you are petting him - if you are a bit rough, it may be why he doesn't like it.

To improve his attitude, try offering kitty treats while you pet him.

Yes!!! But don't worry, cats are independant, and he will seek out attention from you on his terms.

hmmm, my cat does that too, and it hurts!!! i think its something to do with there hormones. If they want something [food] it could be doing it for your attention.Or maybe it just wants some space. i find giving it a treat stops it, mine purrs at me instead if i do that.

Your cat is either trying to annoy you or get you to pay attention to him. Pet him and maybe he will quit. :)
