I quite like it although the incompatibilities of a lot of my hardware and software will not make me want to pay for it. I'll use my RC2 copy until it runs out. Then i'll just use XP and get a decent Linux install setup.
I doubt i'll be getting a new PC for a few years so I won't get it bundled with a computer. £220 is a lot, but if it provides much more security and stability than XP/2003 to an end-user who needs to use Microsoft (for some reason or another) then yes, once released it will be worth it.

I have only played around with the beta versions. However it really doesn't matter what we think about it, as it is what we will have to use. I am willing to pay the price, as I need to get certified in it as soon as the cert comes out. However I think it will be a welcomed addition. Most likely better off having a computer built for the OS, as you don't want to pay for all the hardware upgrades. This system will also be a memory hog because of the amount of virtualization that takes place within the desktop and other screen changes.

If you currently own XP don't upgrade. There are no additional benefits to current XP users.
Only upgrade if you are using Media Center and have an HD TV Tuner card.

I have beta tested Vista (Longhorn) for a long time. Other than new processor/OS security code nothing much has changed.
That and the requirments are high for this OS.

Windows Vista availability
Microsoft announced today that Windows Vista will be broadly available as a stand-alone product or pre-installed on new PCs on January 30, 2007.

Windows Vista will be made available to Volume License customers later in the month of November 2006.

why pay $300 i will not buy it . why one reason why pay that much for 1 cd if it is broken in time ur have to buy a new vista cd. when you can just buy new pc that will have vista install on it & with new pc you have a system restore cd so if anything go wrong with da pc. you can use ur system restore cd to put it all back working again. and with da new pc you can creat as many system restore cds as you like that will back up all of ur pc
new pc with vista install on it will be from $500 so it is better to wait for them to have da new pc then to buy one vista cd for $300
