I like to eat white rice and I was kinda concerned about it being fattening. I usually like to eat it with lime juice sprinkled on top and a lil salt or sometimes with some oriental sauce... I don't know, just kinda curious. Anyone know? I'm sure I could look it up someplace, but yeah.... I figured I'd just ask ya'll.

I am not sure but I don't think it is, my husband went on a diet of strictly white rice, mixed with tomatoes and dill pickles (I know it is gross) and he lost like 20 pounds in 2 months.

I am going off past experiments, but white rice is not bad for you. The problem with white rice is that is has no nutritional value. If you are on a diet, I would try eating wheat rice. Another good thing is unsalted nuts or trail mix. I would also be careful of what you put on the rice. I wouldn't put butter, but a low sodium soy sauce.

Nut case, how is steaming as opposed to boiling gonna make it less fattening?
Get brown rice, better for you.

the best rice to eat is brown rice. White rice is processed and therefore the carbohydrates you get from it are not as healthy as the ones you get from brown rice. If you are trying to lose weight try to limit your carbohydrate intake. Try not to eat many carbs at nighttime and when you do make sure they are healthy carbs ie; brown rice, sweet potato, bananas. any unused carbs your body doesn't use will often turn into fat.

not any more fattening that any other processed grain but brown is better for you and also has a better taste, try it. also there is a grain/seed called quinoa kind of like coucous that is really good. when you cook it the pod breaks open and gives it a creamy consistancy but the pod or outer shell stays crunchy.

Not very...but be careful what you put on it (sauces, etc). Brown long grain rice is better for you than white..more fiber and better overall nutritional content.

well yes and no.

it is a carb and those diet fanatics will tell you that carbs will reuion your life. but we cant live without carbs can we?

its good because it slowly releases energy. however it doesnt contain much NSP (non starch polysaccharride or fibre) which will flush out waste products and poisons from your body.

the healthy option is brown rice which isnt so refined but to be honest the fat levels wont vary significantly.

so my answer is no!! just dont fry it in oil. rice was meant to be boiled
