I am getting ready to deploy overseas and tonight is our deployment party for the base. I have been asked to put together a CD of patriotic songs. So far I have
Proud to be an American
Have you Forgotten
American Soldier
America will Always Remember
and my favorite:
Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue
Does anyone have any other suggestions. Serious answers only. If you dont support the war or military personnel I really dont need to know.

I would love to play harder stuff but they want them to be patriotic so my hands are tied. IMO opinion we should play stuff like "Let the bodies hit the floor" but hey Im only a SSgt and dont have much say in this situation...haha

If any of you are Philadelphia Flyers fans, Kate Smith's version of God Bless America would hold significant meaning. If not fans of the Flyers, it's still a great song.

I just saw a video by Terry Kelly who wrote a song about veteran's and it is really good. The song is called "It's a pittance of time". Go to www.terry-kelly.com and click on "pittance of time" and then click on video.

I like:
"When Johnny comes marching home"
"Tramp, tramp, the boys are marching"
they are old ones from the Civil war but have good melodies and lyrics.
"I like the WW1 song "Over There"
But I must confess none of mine are pop hits of today.
Good luck from and Army vet!

The Natinal Anthem, as Jimmy Hendrix played it at Woodstock.
This is no joke, I take this to be a great piece of art.
