Yeah I think I am the perfect example for this question I have been engaged for 6 years and we were going thru some stuff these past couple weeks and we actually decided to hold off a little longer so yeah we went from being set on getting married to waiting awhile which I like better I don't need marriage to feel complete.

Right, theoretical. Well Zig, if you're looking for marriage, and a particular relationship is not moving forward, do you have enough time to keep that one going while looking for and dating others to determine if there is a potential life partner out there somewhere?

I went "back" in a relationship once before. We started seeing each other steadily and talked of being with each other forever. The phrase, I Love You was a mere fraction of how we felt for each other. Then, it slowly started going back- soon it was "luv ya" occasionally, and then limited touching and sex. It went as far as just being BEST FRIENDS that really cared for one another. I guess it was bound to happen though- her husband finally clued in to what she and I were up to! Oh well. We've since moved on and talk to each other as good friends on the phone once in a while.

It is hard, as the retreat from marriage is seem, to some, as a rejection. You can potentially go back one step, but any further means you might as well call the whole thing off

It's got something to do with you OK. You're negotiating with yourself. I think we all do that mind you
