My man has several pet names for his dog. For example Suger pie, honey bun etc. etc. etc. Then he started calling me the same names too. Sometimes I don't know if he is calling me or his dog. Is that offensive? Would any of you get offended by that? It doesn't bother me. Because he is a very loving person. But my sister said she would get offended by that. He loves his dog very much and I like his dog too. So what do you think people?

I think it's sweet, and it means he loves you as much as his dog, although he loves you in a different way :-)

It wouldn't bother me either.

Noo, I don't think I would be offended. It seems like he really loves his dog, which must mean he loves you too if he is calling you by the same names. But maybe, since you are putting this question up, ask him to have specific pet names for the dog and a few different ones for you, like he can call the dog sugarpie and you honey or baby.

This is all sweet in a funny way.

I call both my dog and my man sweetie. My boyfriend has never had a problem with it and honestly, I doubt he even notices. If you have a problem with it, ask him to change what he calls you. But you said it doesn't bother you, so I would just go on with it and not say anything. It certainly wouldn't offend me if I had this happening. That would be like tell him he couldn't call you "baby" because he called an ex that. There just aren't enough terms of endearment to go around, huh?

Good luck!

I think it's sweet. My boyfriend isn't very creative with cutsie pet names, and pretty much everyone is "hon". It's just a term of endearment. Now if he's calling you and the dog by the dog's proper name, I might raise an eyebrow. I think you're right in not feeling offended.

I think for some people, nicknames are just habits. I have two dogs, Bailey and Junior. They're also known as Baileybug, Bug, Bad Dog, Peanut, Jackbrat, and yes HON. I call my 10 year old son Hon sometimes too. He of course, hates it, but "pet" names just fall right out of my mouth sometimes before I realize it.

I wouldn't be offended if I were you.

He loves his dog way too much but then again I do the same with my dogs. You should tell him to come up with another name for you so you don't get confused who he is talking too.

Depends what the name is! Probably he is trying to be sweet -but it isn't very imaginative now, is it? Calling you and the dog the same name! Couldn't he do better than that!?

I would say it's just a general habit for him to call something he cares about by the same names... I call my husband baby most of the time but slip up and call him "Beakie" other times. (That's the nickname of our two year old). I've even called him Mama.

my dogs go by many nicknames... some of them over lap with my bf, and more frequently, my bf's daughter. it doesn't mean anything, other then a way of expressing affection towards the bf, bf's daughter, or dogs. it shouldn't offend you. he loves his dogs and you... nothing wrong with that. he is a loving guy, you are lucky

look at it this way, at least he loves you as much as his dog. seriously though, maybe your hubby just isn't good at coming up with lovey-dovey names and since you know he loves his dog, he thinks it's a good way to let you know his feelings too. by the way, your sister is to sensitive.
