We're indisputedly in the end times at this very moment!

Because God's attention has always been centered on Israel and His chosen people, the easiest indicators are to look at the prophesies pertaining to them. For example, Jesus' short parable of the fig tree at Matthew 24:32-35 speaks of a day when Israel (symbolized by the fig tree) begins to sprout leaves, i.e. is regenerated as a nation. Israel announced last year that, for the first time in almost 2,000 years, there are more Jews living there than in any other country in the world.

Further, Jesus tells us in verse 33 that: "when you see all these things, know that it [His return] is near—at the doors!" In order to understand what "these things" are, you have to read Matthew 24 and 25 (and the parallel Gospel verses in Luke and Mark), AND the OT prophesies regarding the end times.

Here's an easy to understand web page that fully explains why THIS generation is the generation Jesus refers to in the parable of the fig tree:

I hope this helps. Peace.

EDIT: "Kjelstad," you've taken that reference totally out of context. Jesus was referring to those who would witness His transfiguration.

"But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God." -- Luke 9:27
Matthew16:28
Mark 13:30

These say the end of times will happen in the lifetime of the people listening to Jesus. False prophecy, false prophets, false book.

There is no evidence for an end times. People are taking things they see in the bible and stretching them to fit what is going on in our world today.

It's like reading horoscopes. I read that I'll meet someone who will make a difference in my life. It could be the person who let me go in front of them at the market checkout... or it could be my son's teacher who tells me how good he's doing... or it could be the lady across the street who helped me with my yardwork. We will ALWAYS come across someone who will make a difference in our lives, so it's not hard to say that will come true.

Religion makes people desperate... and the end times is a desperate thing indeed. It's amazes me how their belief in god is so much stronger than their desire to remain on this earth and live with their families. Glorifying god is so much more important than their life. I find that sad.

Because it is one of many interpretations of a text whose author is unknown, and whose authority is attributed to his/her relation to even less-known writers that roamed various deserts some thousands of years ago. How can you not go along with that?
