i think that in general people are more likely to cheat under the influence of alchol it affects your reasoning
i dont agree that it should be an excuse unless the person is unconcious
i do think that we should take accontability for our own actions, if you can handle your drink then drink less to a level that you can handle it
so no it is an excuse

I really do think the world would be a better place if people decided to say "no" to that extra drink or three. There's no doubt that it impairs people's judgements- but they have a choice, they choose to drink and so are still personally responsible for what they do while drunk.

Look at it this way, if a person was drunk- got into their car and killed somebody, the victim will still be dead, they will still be responsible, and the law will treat them accordingly. Same goes for drunken infidelities. Being drunk is not an excuse, it may be some part of the reason, but it does not relinquish one from the consequences, or relieve anybody of personal responsibility for their actions.

Alcohol does impair judgment and I believe that you would be more likely to cheat under th influence of alcohol. I know when I drink that I flirt more with other people but I have never cheated. But It is no excuse. Bad decisions and acting on your instincts is highly increased by alcohol so yes I do believe that. If you R drunk you end up having sex that you regret.

Easily. It doesn't just lower inhibitions, it makes you stop thinking of the consequences of your actions. Like spending all your money for the rest of the month in one night, or staying out until 5 when you have a 9AM meeting the next morning, or jumping in an illegal cab. You just don't even think.

It also makes you feel like you really affectionate. I want to hug and kiss everybody that comes my way when I'm drunk, I'm just so full of love! So it's a pretty lethal combo.

I can't say it's a good excuse, but it's one I could understand. But I'm pretty laid back about monogamy anyway. For some people it's a real taboo and you couldn't compare it to the other bad behaviours I've mentioned.

if you have been drinking alcohol you do lose your inhibitions and so are more likely to do things you would be affraid of doing when you havent been drinking. I know that you can be so drunk you do not remember doing or saying things in which case you may cheat you have to want to do it first and its not really a valid excuse, for cheating as you'd have to be very drunk and if you do get like that and cheat when your drunk you should not drink so much.

Way too many people use alcohol as an excuse! they think if they have a drink and can go do whatever they want and wont have to deal with the consequences because they were "drunk"
Drunk or not, they still know what they are doing.... they will still know wrong from right, they just maybe more likely to do whats wrong and try and be cool.

well i dont know about you but when i'm with someone and i get drunk all i can do is think of that person, so if i'd cheated which i've never done, it was cos i wanted to. blaming alcohol is an excuse and never a reason. if you love someone then you wont cheat cos you dont wanna hurt them and cant bring yourself to do it anyway. depends on your morals. if you dont care about the person you will cheat anyway drunk or not. if you do care you wont. simple really.

They are more likely to cheat because they know they can use the alcohol as an excuse instead of taking the blame for it. If they want to cheat, they will cheat regardless. It's just an excuse.

When you drink you lose your inhibitions and it's very easy to fall into the trap of going with something you'd normally restrain from during sobriety. I think it makes it easier to justify cheating (blaming it on the alcohol) but I think it's an excuse. I've been in some states before now but if I'm honest, I nearly always know what I'm doing and could stop myself if I really wanted to!

I do believe that alcohol makes you forget your inhibitions and be more daring. But as for cheating on your partner, I think there would have to be something quite seriously wrong in the relationship for that to happen, alcohol-induced or not.
