One don't have to worship animals. Most devoted buddhists refrain from meat or become vegetarians because they believe that animals too have souls and it is sinful to kill another living creature, not only human beings. However, that is not necessary. More important is that one value all life, killing should be restrained to what is required for nourishment, and not for leisure, e.g. hunting
