Moses at the burning bush notices that the flames are coming from an upwelling of black liquid just beneath the bush and thinks:
"Is that oil the spirit of God? Why don't I just put some of it in a bottle and take it with me. I could burn it in lamps to make light, or use some of it to perform destructive miracles involving fire!"

Confusion what is this voice within me that calls upon me to save the Jews and tell the strongest man in the world to let my people go? Unsureness after all he was said to have a speach impediment so how could he stand up in front of Pharoah and his court. Uncertainty, what about his wife and son. Great question that makes you stop and think.

Egyptians made the Israelites slaves and were very mean to them. When Moses grew up, he tried to help one of his people. This made Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, angry. He wanted to kill Moses! So Moses ran away from Egypt.
Moses went to another land. It was the land of Midian. There Moses got married and began to raise a family. He also worked as a shepherd, taking care of sheep. One day Moses was busy caring for his sheep near a mountain when he saw an amazing thing. A thornbush was on fire, but it was not burning up! Moses went closer to get a better look.
Moses heard a voice calling from the middle of that burning thornbush. The voice called out, “Moses! Moses!” Who was saying that? It was God speaking! God had a lot of work for Moses to do. God said: ‘Come and let me send you to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and you bring my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.’ God promised to help Moses do this.
Like any of us, it would seem unbelievable that the Creator of the Universe was talking to us, so Moses had questions & doubts.
Moses said to God: ‘Suppose I come to the sons of Israel in Egypt and say that God sent me. What if they ask me, “What is his name?” What shall I say?’ God told Moses to tell the sons of Israel: ‘Jehovah has sent me to you. Jehovah is my name forever.’ (Exodus 3:1-15) This shows that God was going to keep the name Jehovah. He would never change it. God wanted to be known by his name, Jehovah, forever.
Moses asks for credentials to show that Jehovah actually appeared to him.
‘But suppose they don’t believe me when I say that you sent me,’ Moses replied.
‘What is in your hand?’ God asked.
Moses answered: ‘A stick.’
‘Throw it on the ground,’ God said. And when Moses did, the stick became a snake. Jehovah then showed Moses another miracle. He said: ‘Put your hand inside your robe.’ Moses did, and when he took his hand out, it was white like snow! The hand looked as if it had the bad sickness called leprosy. Next Jehovah gave Moses power to do a third miracle. Finally he said: ‘When you do these miracles the Israelites will believe that I sent you.’

He must have known that it was a sign. When he saw it from far away, he said he wanted to go back and see tha "great sight." So he must have known there was something big going on.
But wow, to hear God's actual voice and to stand in His physical presence...that must have been so amazing. I bet Moses was so scared.
