what is your opinion on religious distinctions? Are they really necessary, or were they just an invention of man as an excuse to hate each other?

And, yes, i do mean 'all religions' - i'm not just talking about the different sects of Protestantism. There is the fundamental underlying characteristic of the worship of the Ultimate, and it's the same Ultimate for all cultures. For example, can not a Christian fast for Ramadan, eat lamb for Passover, give to the Sangha to build up good merit, and still give something up for Lent? Are they not all acts of worship of the same G-d?

All religions are there because there are different mind-sets and mental evolution of people

One day all these faiths will pour themselves into the great ocean of Spirituality..and then our journey towards divinity will start

When that will happen? is yet another question

I think religious dinstinctions are necessary because as a Wiccan I believe something very different than what Christians, Muslims or Jews believe. However, I don't believe relgion is a good reason to hate each other, though many people definitely use their religion as an excuse to do so.

Religious distinctions? Like the difference between Christianity and Islam? Or Catholic and Lutheran?
Well if so, then I say when Jesus Christ is taken out of the equation then it's just religion and the relationship is lost.
Romans 6:23~For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in [ Or through] Christ Jesus our Lord.
A religion will not save our souls, but a relationship with Jesus Christ will.
~*2nd part of ?~
I believe religion is man-made to suffice the differences and free will of man. I also believe there is only one true book to follow, the Holy Bible. This is not a religion but a deep relationship with Jesus Christ that can develop and flourish by following His words.

The reason there are so many differnt religons that are false, is because mankind tends to reject what God says and develops their own plan of what is right and wrong. The devil is behind it all, to cause division and confusion and chaos... all of it leading to destruction. If every person only followed exactly what God says, and you learn that by much deep study and prayer, then thre would only be one true faith. The faith of God thru Jesus Christ. We wold only need to know Gods word, and do all He says to do and NOT do. No these false religons arent necessary. they are an invention of mankind, from the devil, so that each one can write their own religion and do as they please, out of Gods perfect will. Where does hatred come from? the devil, NOT GOD. The devil is behind it all. God is calling us back to Him as Jesus is coming home soon. Pleaes ppl get a Bible, study for yourself, and KNOW what God is saying. Choose God before its too late. SOON...Remember the reason we Christians try to tell you is bec we love you, as God does. God is a God of love. Only a true Christian will preach this. If someone claiming to be Christian, preaches differently, then the Bible says they arent of GOD. He says we know them by their fruits.. meaning how they act..... But us Christians that do preach to you, do so bec we love you. Nor are we angry , not at you. Just angry at the devil that holds ppl in such deep deception. Forgive us if we dont always make that clear.

They are an invention of man so he won't feel so alone. Hating each other is just an instinct that man developed against people who don't agree with him. Some can accept those differences... some can't. And for those who can't, religion gives them an excuse to actively go after those who don't agree.

My opinion is that people should be able to practice any religion they want...HOWEVER they should not act as if their religion is better than anybody else's in any way. I hate that.

I don't think it's intentionally an excuse to hate each other but people get too serious and too into it that they think they are the only right one and they get on this horrible power trip of how everybody but them is wrong. It's a bunch of ********.

Look at it from an archeogical point of view. Humans used to be mostly a bunch of nomads or small cities that warred with each other constantly. Their religions were designed to justify attacking others, "We're the chosen ones" "God is on our side" "If they don't believe they're going to hell" "God (Allah) wants us to convert others" These sentiments that are expressed in all theistic religions helped groups feel more unity with each other by alienating those outside of the group.

They are the result of religious authority translating into worldly authority. Distinctions were made by ideology but have been sharpened to bloody cutting edges to tighten up control of the laity by the clergy.

if scholars wouldn't have screwed up putting the bible together , we would have all the answers, but they left out many books and put in what they wanted to, i think that is the reason for so many diferent religions, thier beliefs r based on some of those missing books , that might be a good reason to study others religions to find out the truth of it all, i'm still searching

its a matter of difference and variety ... as long as its accompanied with mutual respect..

What invents religious distinctions?

How would you not have religious distinction?

Well, when all bend knee to Jesus, diferent religions will no longer exist.
Phi 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
