Most states allow 24 hours to drive on no plates - however, that is only from where it was purchased to your home or where it will be parked. Other states require you to purchase a temp tag (about ten bucks).

Be careful driving the car though, specially right after the auction. You should, if possible, trailer it home and go through it to make sure it's safe to be on the street. You could end up killing yourself or others if a tie rod goes, or something else happens on the drive.

Be safe!

Just make sure you call your DMV and ask them. And make sure you keep your bill of sale with you when you are taking it home just to prove that you just bought it.
