My doctor says there's nothing wrong but I spend half the day feeling like I'm under water and the other half trying to pop my ears. Sometimes they automatically block when I swallow. This is driving me nuts!

I have the same issue. When it flares up, I take a non-drowsy, 12 hour decongestant (alavert is good) and that usually takes care of the problem.
Do you have vertigo? My doctor says that sometimes accompanies this ear-popping/blocked issue.

Good luck, try the decongestant, don't take more than you need.

You probably have sinus blockage intermittently. If you feel drainage down the back of your throat, that's likely your problem. If the eustachian tube gets blocked, your ears will pop. Another problem could be ear wax buildup, but the Dr. should be able to see that. Going in & out of different altitudes will do it - do you go up & down mountains frequently? If so, try chewing gum; it often prevents the popping caused by altitude.

Mine didn't ever really pull on their ears, even when they did have an ear infection, which for the first one was so many that she got tubes in. I'd say if she's not acting sick - no fever, runny nose, fussieness or restlessness, then the pulling is either not an ear infection, or it's one so slight that it's not bothering her. They say that the majority of ear infections go away on their own, and doctors are trying to prescribe less and less. If she acts sick in any other way, take her in, but if it's just pulling, let her be.

You have fluid behind the eardrum. I had that before, and it does drive someone nuts. You will need to see a doctor and get a prescription to drain the fluid. You have an infection in your ears or possibly a sinus infection, or your head is congested. See a doctor!!!!

Sounds like you have narrow Eustachian tubes or a catarrh problem. Do you also need to keep clearing your throat? I have the same problem each time I catch a cold and a decongestant like Sudafed helps me - may be worth a try.

It could be allergies. When you consume certain foods or are exposed to things (in the environment) that you are allergic to, it can cause congestion in the ears, nose or throat. Try seeing an allergen specialist.

You're either sick or have allergies. This causes fluid build-up in the tube between your ears and nose. Try sudafed 24hr.

sounds like you need another doctor !! possible middle ear infection adults look for:

feeling of fullness or pressure
hearing problems
dizziness, loss of balance
nusea, vomiting
ear drainage (poor)

The ear abnormality sounds like eustachian tube dysfuction (poor drainage of the middle ear).

DID YOUR DOCTOR SEND YOU TO ENT CLINIC? YOU MAY BE SUFFERING PERFORATED EAR DRUM. OR COLD BUILT UP IN NERVES. THERE IS A SIMPLE OPERATION FOR THIS. IT IS ADVISABLE THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE VERY COLD DRINKS AND SHOULD COVER YOUR EARS WHEN YOU GO OUT IN THE COLD. ( TRY TAKING CHEWY MINT IF YOU GET THIS SYMPTOM)
