My oldest daughter (6) still has toilet isues. She doesnt really potty her pants all the way but as we call it, tinkles. She used to tell me and I would have to get her new panties and wash her bottom but now she just gets them herself and doesnt wash and she tends to have really nasty smelling bottoms.(goes through ~6 a day ) Not just a potty smell either. One time I took her to the dr. and she had a U.T.I. because she holds it so long. So long that you can see her sit on her heal to hold it in. I am getting very concerned about her. Most of the time I catch her holding it and tell her to go to the rest room and she fights it even though I know she knows she has to go. One time she even said "I hate it when you realize I have to go" Is this just a ploy for attn. I have 2 other childeren one of which is potty trained and let me tell you I never knew it could be so easy. Almost never has an accident and has been potty trained since 2 years old!

Take her to the bathroom every ten minutes and make her go... eventually she'll get sick of it and start going her her own.

And talk to her and see h=why she won't go... is she afraid of somethng , does it hurt, make sure she understands the she is hurting herself

Didn't the doctor suggest anything? This is not uncommon. My daughter has the problem with holding it too long and UTI's. Have you asked her why she doesn't want to go. Try to get her to tell you what she's afraid of. Explain to her that she's going to hurt herself ( the UTI's) if she keeps this up and that she doesn't want to have to keep going to the doctor or go to school or around her friends with stinky bottoms. Explain how cruel kids can be and that they will make fun of her. Or maybe she wants attention. Don't give her attention. Maybe the fact that she doesn't like when you realize she has to go can work in your favor. If "everyone" notices when she has to go it might embarass her enough to do the right thing. You're in a tough pickle but probably just a stage you have to get through. Good luck and be patient.

I would say it has come to be an attention thing. When she does this act like she hasnt done anything. Start giving her attention on other things. Don't let her know when she has to go just ignore it for a while and say nothing about it. Maybe then she will stop. I am a single mom of 4 and my oldest used to do things for attention. Also, when people come over instead of them talking to anyone else first have them say hi to her first. Hopefully this will help her. She sounds like a child jsut wanting attention and she has found that this will get her the attention she wants. Good luck to you.

Is there any concern that she's not getting the right nutrition? because maybe if she's eating foods that make her constipated then she with holds THAT,then maybe she's holding her pee as well because she might be scared to poop because the poop is too hard that it hurts coming out.My six year old never wets or poops her pants but she does freak out when she's constipated.

Sounds like she is getting UTI"s she holds it because it hurts to pee. I don't think it is a ploy for attention, it probably just hurts. Get her to drink cranberry juice everyday, it prevents UTI's if she doesn't like the juice, they also sell it in tablet form. All kids are different.

Take her to a doctor - she most likely has a medical issue.
