Mankind functions with faith. Faith is believing in what you hear and hear continously. Faith is mostly associated with believe in positive things whereas Fear is the opposite of faith, but just works the same way.
Religion is the practise of ones Faith or Fear and it is mostly
associated with the believe in a Supreme deity of a sort. To the best of my knowledge no religion propagates the act of war.
In each of the major religions around the world the record of war in the history of such religion has been based mainly on the fending off attacks from others.
However, in more recent time, especially the 21st century we have seen the manipulation of religion by leaders to start wars and achieve ulterior motives for themselves. It doesn't mean religion is bad. Just like how a knife can be use for cutting food items for making your most favourable dish and also for killing someone, that is no reason for a knife to be considered an evil device. It the use of it that determines ...
Everything we do is based on a believe system of some sort. For example, you have thought things through and come to believe that not believing in any religion will make you well adjusted and down to earth...well that is your faith!
Another person thinks that believing in a God above and his command will ensure he prospers and live right and get save upon death...thats his faith.
All the wars around can stop if those leading them will stop it. Religion in itself is not causing wars, but the wickedness of men that are using religion to deceive others into fighting causes wars.
We as a people need to expose these people for what they are and stand against their falsehood.
Please, go ahead and believe in whatever you choose too, so far as it doesn't deprive anyone else of the fundamental human rights (which might include you own immediate family members). Anyone has everyright to believe in anything...One must ensure not to think about destroying another person or his property to acheive ones ends using what one believes and practises as an excuse to do so.
You cannot function without believing in something and hence religion is an avenue for expressing what one believes in.
Thanks

The question that rational people have been asking for millenia has just been asked again. The answer is the same as always, who knows. Most people are born into their religions as it is anyway, they are taught these things from early childhood when they are actually impressionable enough to believe in that which has no proof for it,and so much proof against it. They hold onto it mostly I believe because they need some greater thing to believe in to help them deal with this bloodbath of a world we have built. What they fail to recognize is that what they believe in,and how it ends up being expressed are things that have helped fill the bath with blood. And those rational people are caught in the middle because they either will not,or in many cultures cannot speak out against these dogmas which have helped screw up this world so thoroughly.

First of all, I WILL PRAY FOR YOU! Second of all, if you read to most published book in the WORLD, also the MOST read, the Bible, you will see that wars have been going on since the beginning of time. God gave us life and choices (freedom) we are not programed to be as He wants, but He gave us the tools to make out own descisions. Always follow your heart, (the Holy Spirit within you) and follow the Bible. Pick up a student Bible and start with the New Testament. You don't have to read from front to back. God didn't start the (trubble) man did. But the beauty of it is, is that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save your sins. Until you believe with your heart and confess with your lips the He is your Lord and Savior, you are damned to hell. It is easier to believe in nothing than to be a good Christian (at first) but God help your soul! You will be amazed of how GREAT your life will become when you become a true believer. Good Luck and God Bless!

There's a difference between religion and belief in god. Religion is business. It's a way to get people in the door, into the pews and putting money in the plate. Organized religion is dangerous in many ways.
Belief in god is a way to feel not so alone on this rock hurtling through space. There's nothing wrong about a belief in god... that itself doesn't cause wars. I know many people who are believers, read their bible and commune with god but do not attend church or subscribe to any specific religion because they've witnessed what I've witnessed: heresy, liars, manipulators... all in the name of god.

What to say for that?
It is a sad thing that people are using the name of their gods for wars. But if I dont have my religion which I have now I would be more upset with this thing.
I know that one day all this wars and Problems going to domain the earth before God will destroy it but than Im not going to be on it because when Jesus comes the second time he will take me whith him.

All the founders of the religion had truly good intentions, as the world was in so much turmoil then. However, as the religious leaders became so strong, they began to experiment what they can do with their power (crusades, jihad, etc). these religious/military people are often stron and charismatic people that their followers became so fanatic that they are willing to throw their lives away. Religion often has a positive effect on mankind, buts its the leaders that ruins the reputation. They are still flawed as human beings

Your view of thinking of everyone as equals is your religion.Your view has grown out of a belief. It could be views, ideology's, particular God depicting some aspect. But all are same. The trouble starts when one sect tries to thrust their view on others.Freedom on individual beliefs and thinking should be tolerated.

As others have written, but not that clearly, it is not religion that starts wars. It is the desire for power, wealth, etc. that starts wars. Religion is just one of the many excuses that people use. If there were no religions, people would still have a desire to impose their will on others and would start wars. They would just use some other excuse to do this.
