If you were successful in finding a down-loadable copy you are setting yourself up for big trouble.
Microsoft requires and ID on their software and with the download that would not be available. During installation you would not get past that
And of course you may get a virus.
Be careful what you ask for you may get more than you want.

Free???!!?!
Do you mean pirate a copy of windows? Lots of luck. Now if it is an Operating system you desire, there ARE free downloadable versions of Linux out there.
and many low cost ones too.

You're kidding, right? There are no "free" versions of Windows operating systems. There are lots of pirated software available, if you choose to do it illegally, but beware - you will pick up viruses, spyware, etc., and these sites are out of the U.S. Swallow hard and pay the price the rest of us pay for Windows!

No point, because if you download one from a p2p site, there is a chance:
a) of getting a virus with the file
b) Microsoft can now trace illegal copies and can shut down your computer
c) You won't be able to get Windows Updates and your computer will be vulnerable to security attacks.

If you are looking for a free operating system, there are plenty of Linux distributions.
Do a google on:
Knoppix or Fedora Core 6
