I don't mean to put down, just want to understand. If the bible says don't drink blood, then why is the symbolic wine drunk and why did christ say to do this? It sounds like cannabalism to me. Again, I am not trying to put down, just know why.

It is only symbolic. J.c say that to get a reponse from His disciples. Some left after He said it. There fail the test of friendship & brotherhood. Blood signify life & brotherhood. J.C is sharing His life with us & bestow us to the status of brother to Him. The bread symbolize His body that was broken (died on the cross) for the save us from sin penalty.

The wine is a symbolism of purity. Even though Christ was pure, He didn't want us to violate the Law by literally drinking blood, so wine was used for it's purified qualities as a substitute for blood so that we still might be able to partake of Christ's purity through the observation of the passover and communion as well as being cleansed outwardly by water baptism.

The wine by the power of christ is transubstantuated into the blood of Christ as most orthodox christians believe because God can do all things at all times

I don't drink the 'blood of Christ' - it's a symbol of the bread and wine. Not literal. Christ didn't rip off His arm at the last supper and pass it around for everyone to have a bite - that's canabalism. It's a symbol - to remember Him by.

The wine [grape juice in my church!] and bread are symbols of Christ's blood and broken body. We celebrate communion in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for all mankind. We do not believe that these symbols are truly flesh and blood, but some other faiths, such as Catholic, do.

haven't you?! Did you really drank Christ's blood? If ever, then, what happened?

Nothing.

Ok, that's just joke.
The wine just symbolizes the blood of Christ, not exactly as a wine as just to make someone. drunk, but to show that they accept blood of God.

Anyweiz, are you a christian?

Me. Not so..

To Catholic Christians if the blood of Jesus is not drank at the Mass, eternal life is not given.
It is based of the gospel of John Chapter 6, spoken by Jesus Himself. And Jesus also said that He is the Way, the Truth(so He wouldn't lie) and the Life (His flesh and blood provide eternal life).

This is the teaching of the Catholic Christian Church, based on the Gospel of John chapter 6.

It is o/k. if you might feel grossed out and have some odd thoughts about it.

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

Be realistic. We do it because we are commanded to do it by Christ until He returns as a rememberance of His death, clearly taught throughout the New Testament. But we drink grape juice or wine, not His blood. Catholics say it is the actual blood, but if you take it to a lab, you will find that it is grape juice. They just distort the scriptures as they do with many other teachings to.

It is done to remember the sacrifice that Christ made for the remission of Sins.
Do this in rememberance of Me.

Mat 26:26 ¶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed [it], and brake [it], and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Mat 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave [it] to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

i. This is how we remember what Jesus did for us. We cannot eat the bread without remembering how Jesus was broken, pierced, and beaten with stripes for our redemption. We cannot drink the cup without remembering that His blood was poured out on Calvary for us.

ii. This is how we fellowship with Jesus. Because His redemption has reconciled us to God, we can now sit down to a meal with Jesus, and enjoy each other’s company.

b. This is My body . . . this is My blood: The precise nature of the bread and the cup in communion has been the source of great theological controversy.

The drinking of Christ blood is not literal if not what will be remaining for those living now. Its symbolic in that as we observe the way he conducted the memorial of his death we show appreciation for the sacrifice he performed and reminds also to keep our lives in harmony with God's will so as to benefit from that sacrifice
