Because our cats love us and depend on us but not in an overbearing way. They only need us for food, water and to clean out the litter box. They don't disappoint us or ask more of us than we can give. They don't cheat on us or borrow money that never gets paid back. They don't insult us or hurt our feelings. They don't argue with us. Sometimes they are affectionate and entertaining. Sometimes they are comical. They are a perfect friend. What's not to love?

Probably because your cat is your best friend. You and your cat live together and probably know each other better than anyone. Your cat is always there and you are the most precious person to him/her. You both take care of each other. I think it it's the next best thing to having a child.

I don't know what happened to make you feel this way but to me it seems pretty much like you've been dissappointed by a lot of people in your life before. So it becomes easy for you to befriend your cat bcos unlike people, your cat cannot argue or tell you things to your face so as to make it easy for you to hang out with it. I suggest you stop hiding behind your cat and face things that hurt or make you feel sad.

Maybe your cat isn't as demanding as anyone in your life. And your cat is a cuddly bundle of live Joy for you. And she loves you back.

Have you ever met anyone who was completely non judgmental and was always there for you but never pushed you around and respected your personal space? Some one who when you screwed up never said "I told you so" but said "come here and cuddle"?
When you find somebody like that who isn't a cat, let me know.

Because a cat is not judgmental and your interaction with your pet is uncomplicated. It would be wise, however, to make more human friends and expend some of your energy in nurturing other people.

A cat is a perfect substitute for a
- child, which is very important in our age of overpopulation;
- a partner, which might be of importance for prevention of sexually-transmitted diseases.
