I have a picture with a white background and would like to change it to an "old rose" color...but dont know how to do it. Tried to use the "fill" option but it fills up the entire picture including the image. What should I do?
Please help! :)
Better yet, I can send you the picture and edit it for me, if you please... :)
Thanks much!

use the magic wand tool(w), click the white background and press delete. then create new layer from the layers window(at the bottom next to the trash can)

OK, let's cut to the chase here. CS5 ain't exactly cheap, and I've seen too many folks invest in this app and then find it's not for them. This decision is dependent on SO many factors that it's fraught with hidden pitfalls: 1. What type of art are we talking here? If you're taking (for instance) sketches which have already been completed on paper and then digitising them, then Photoshop would be perfect for you. If, however, you're looking to work with (for example) a digital tablet/pen and actually create the art on the system, then Illustrator is the way to go. 2. What specs are the system you're hoping to install this on? CS5 is the heaviest version yet in terms of resources required--and I'm not just talking the minimum requirements. To REALLY see CS5 at its best, you have to have a toip of the line, fairly high spec system. It WILL work with minium requirements, but in no way can that be said to be working at the apps optimum. 3. What kind of finance do you have available? The full CS5 suite is kinda pricey, and unless you can afford to wait a couple of years (the amount of time it's gonna take you to get truly up to speed with all of the apps) then you could be headed for a problem. Admittedly, there are discounts available (for students, educators etc) but in reality, claiming these discounts can be fraught with problems, delays etc, so that you can really get into the situation of castigating yourself for spending THAT amount of cash on something you realistically have little chance of seeing returns on for quite a while (because of the learning curve). My advice? Look through the classified ads and find somebody selling off one of the earlier suites. You'll be able to get the same functionality (on the learning curve) for a lot less cash initially, and, once you start earning (if that's how you're thinking of heading), you can then always upgrade the installation. Given what you've written, I have no doubt that either Photoshop, Fireworks or Illustrator would be ideally suited to you, but, in these frugal times, the above has to be borne in mind. Best of Luck with whatever you decide to do Scots
