ok,
i know all about the 60hz 50hz stuff.
i think ill mainly be running sky through it through a tv link from the front room, and just the dvd player.
And as for the power supply, when we say 'transformer', is this a plug convertor u can buy from the £1 store or something different?

Does a tree that falls in the woods when there is no one around make noise? The tv picks up whatever channels are being broadcast in the receiving area. A TV from most countries outside the US need a converter to convert to our electrical system. Oh, Walmart.

Only if the TV supports PAL. You may be able to buy an adaptor that will allow you to watch TV over here. Also I would check out the power supply as we have different standards then the US and this could cause problems. It may be a good idea to contact the manufactures as they will be able to tell you more and maybe able to supply you with a PAL TV like the one on the website.

Probably not. The TV signals in the US and Canada use the NTSC system whereas the TV signals in the UK use the PAL system. These systems are incompatible with each other. If you want to use a TV for UK, it is better to buy this equipment locally so that you have the manufacturer's warranties as well.

Tried this years back, with a 240 to 120 transformer. Expectd to get absolutely nothing but was suprised to hear some sound and even see some picture. Nothing though being anywhere near watchable.

Different power source....different plug...yes...there will be smoke and a lot of waited money....
be careful with DVD players and DVD...there is no guarantee that a DVD bought in the us will work in the UK or Europe...there are different codings the companies use for different regions.

Only if it is PAL compatible as they run a different system other there, but they do make some of their Screen type equipment PAL compatible. You just have to check beforehand.

no, different power voltage and different set-up, you could in theory use a transformer for the power but it is most unlikely to receive UK programmes, it might be okay for sky, you need to check with them
