men call women dogs to make them sound more powerful and make women feel like they are "owned property" and not a human. by calling a woman a dog is like calling a African American a n*****, a Hispanic person a s***, or an Asian person a c****. it is just a derogatory term used to make some one feel inferior or less then human. the user normally tends to also feel superior to the person they called it to. basically it is a derogatory term.
