Frozen when I bought it and has remained frozen ever since. Is it still OK to thaw and cook now, 4 years later?

OF COURSE frozen meat goes bad!!! Poultry keeps 8 months tops in the freezer, then you have to throw it out...just cuz its cold, doesn't mean the bacteria aren't working...and they duplicate their population once every 30 minutes!! How many times is that in 4 years?!

It's probably safe, but it'll have freezer burn unless it was sealed really, really well.

But think of it this way - if you throw it out, what have you lost - maybe $10-15? But if you cook it, and it was bad, you can run the range of risk from a bad meal, to sick family members.

If you're not sure, take the loss of a few dollars, pitch it, and go get another turkey.

Jennifer P.:
If that was my turkey in my freezer in my basement, yes, I would thaw that puppy and pop it in the oven and roast it till it was golden brown. Truth is, there are many who will say it's no good. But if it's still frozen, cook it and taste it. I envy you, however. We don't have turkeys where I live. Enjoy it!

It is probably going to be OK if it has been kept frozen solid. I have cooked turkeys that were in my freezer over two years and they were just fine.

Frozen meat can't go bad especially if it is sealed up tight.
It may dry out though after 4 years. I would cook it and see.

If it was wrapped for the long term and isn't freezer burned, GO FOR IT.

oooohhh...i don't think so. I bet there's a "manufacturer's" phone # on the label though if you wanted to check with them.
