honey i wore them for 5 long years....and my daughters just got them (they are 14 too)....i can tell you that for the first day you will feel a lot of pressure and a headache that will feel like someone is trying to rip your head off....as stated in others answers you can take tylenol or aleve.... the pain will ease in a couple of days and then it will only hurt (maybe) when you have adjustments made...the cement will come off with brushing/eating/talking....if its too bad since today is thursday your parents may let you stay home and by monday you should be good as new....eat soft foods like peanut butter sandwiches (smooth only) if eating hurts too...good luck kiddo!

The pain will subside as your teeth start to move. However, every time you visit the orthodontist you will again have the pain as they adjust the braces to move your teeth. Pain again will subside. Take to eating soft things until that happens and then resume your normal eating. I found chewing soft things lightly was the easiest to do for a couple of days. But hay in the end of all the pain you will have BEAUTIFUL teeth and it is so worth it because I can't tell you the number of compliments I have gotten on my smile and teeth since removing my braces 10 years ago. The compliments never go away and remember when you are talking to someone you look mostly at their eyes and mouth, seeing you guessed it their teeth. Good Luck, I'm sure you'll do great.

Yeah I didn't eat for like three days when I first got my braces put on. Except maybe some soup. Like chicken noodle or Tomato. anything that doesn't have stuff in it that you have to chew. The warmness will help ease the pain and if you eat it slow enough you won't be hungry. I promise it does get better. Just hang in there.
Yeah I think that that glue will flake off. When you go back to your orthodontist if it hasn't tell them and they will get it off for you.

It will get better. My daughter complained alot about her braces when she first got them to the point where she wanted me to take her back and have them taken off. Now she goes in each month and it doesn't even bother her. Try this tip from her.... take Advil about an hour BEFORE your next appointment. That should help the pain. Also try using warm water to brush your teeth instead of cold.

No worries about the glue. It'll wear off. For the pain, keep popping Ibuprofen if you can and eat soft foods. The pain will go away sooner than you think

Just take some pain medicine like advil or tylenol. Yes the glue eventually wears off.

yea... you should take a Motrin, i had braces too... i got them off over a year ago though. but yea, Motrin works... or like Tylenol.. or some kind of med like that. and about the cement you should call Ur orthodontist and get it off bcz it will not just flake off... he has to grind it off... and it sometimes hurts!! you'l have to ask your dentist/orthodontist to take the cement stuff off because its been about two years since i got mine off (i had mine for like 2.5 years) and i just recently reminded my dentist to get it off my back tooth and he finally did.it bugged me a lot.
take aspirin for the soreness, but know that its not forever. just a couple days.

dont worry all people who got braces feel the same way as you, you'll feel the pain at least a week so you can't eat something hard, eat soup or porridge if you like.
be patient ;)
