When I get that kind of visitor... (usually inlaws- there are LOTS of them) I make either a ring, braid or wreath. It's made with crescent rolls in the desired shape and the filling of choice, usually with things I have on hand. Taco, chicken club, chicken & broccoli, spinach & artichoke, classic rueben, turkey & cranberry (great with holiday leftovers), and BBQ chicken.

I do a 10 minute cake in the microwave for dessert in my rice cooker plus! It's a lava cake that people love and can't believe it's done fast & in the microwave.

Here's one of the fillings... if you want to know more email me.
Spinach & Artichoke Filling from All The Best Cookbook

1 can (14oz) artichoke hearts in water, drained and chopped
1 pkg (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
1 cup (4 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg (4 oz) crumbled feta cheese
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 garlic clove, pressed
1/4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 tbsp (1/2 oz) grated fresh Parmesan cheese

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. In Classic Batter Bowl, combine artichokes, spinach, mozzarella cheese, feta cheese, bell pepper, mayonnaise, garlic and black pepper. Mix well.

2. Scoop filling evenly over desired shape; finish shape as directed. Brush with egg white. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

to make a ring....
Arrange crescent triangles in a circle with bases overlapping and points out on the 13" stone, leaving a 5" circle in center

Make up a few things ahead of time and stick them in the freezer, then when friends or family pop in you can take them out, pop them in the oven and look liked you made a real fuss over them. Italian dishes are great for this, meatballs in sauce, lasagna. Pot pies also work well. Always have some good cheese in the fridge and crackers in the cupboard. Wine too is a good staple to have in the house at this time of year.

Tortilla Roll Ups take almost no time to make:
Flour tortillas, Cream Cheese, Salsa
OR
Flour tortillas, cream cheese, ham, drained crushed pineapple

Mix cream cheese (use the kind that comes in a tub) with salsa for spicy or pineapple for ham. Spread on a flour tortilla. For the ham roll-up lay a slice of ham on the cream cheese. Roll up the tortilla, slice in 1 inch slices.
