Half brothers and sisters are were say the mother is the mother of both the son and daughter and then the son and daughter have different dads. that would make the brother and sister half....
Step brother and sister is where say the mother marry's another man and he has kids. those would be the step brother and sisters. get it?

Half means you are related to the person with part of your own personal blood line, from either your mom or dad but not both. Step means, that they have become related to you only by marrage and does not have any of your personal blood line that would come from either your mom or dad. I have 3 half brothers, 2 from my dad and 1 from my mom. I have no step brothers or sisters but I had step sons with my last marrage. Make family family though, even if they don't have your blood line. This is the mess of todays society trying to figure all this out with all the infidelity our society has come to love.

Step brother/sister dont have the same mother or father. Like, you are only brother and sister becuase your parents married each other.
Half brother/sister share either a mom or a dad.

A half bro/sis are actually blood related, just not fully. A step has no relation to you. So that's the difference:.) I have both a half brother and sister.

You share a parent with your half sister/brother. A step sister/brother was already there when your parents met, so you're not related.

A half sibling has one of the same parents as you. For example you and your sister have the same mom and different dads. A step sibling has no parent that is the same as you. For example your mom and dad get divorced and your mom remarries a man that has a son. He is your step brother because neither of his parents are the same as yours. Your mom is his step mom, not his biological mom.
