My silly girlfriend thought that it had to do with eating too fast and gulping down air with the food. She breathes out when eating vegetables. I thought it was because we can't digest starch or cellulose or some such.

I've been told that anything good for you does cause gas. Vegetables and beans are both good for you. =)

you are closer to the mark. Some vegetables contain large amounts of a sulpher like chemical, broccoli, beans, asparagus are just a few, this chemical increases fermentation in the gut and you become flatulent. Beano really does work as it neutralizes this chemical.

the contain alot of fiber which causes your bowel to become more active. The reasons why other foods dont or at least not as much, is because it isnt a very natural food. Fiber, however, despite the ga, is very good for your health.
