my son had a fender bender shortly after he got his licence, about 6 months later he got a speeding ticket which resulted in him losing his licence for 30 days; that was 8 months ago, he just got another speeding ticket and i was wondering how long he should expect to lose his licence for. we live in Iowa if anybody has had a similar experience i would love to talk to you.

i cant speak for how Iowa does it but i can tell you in IL and IN how its done. Depending on the speed on the second ticket there will be a drivers class he would have to take (which is mind numbing to say the least- my brother had to take it) on the third ticket (depending on the time between tickets) you would lose your license till your 21. I know Iowa has a slightly different way of going about it. I would say call your local police department for exactly details since its a serious matter, but my advice to you is to get him to slow down before you have to drive him everywhere for the next 5 years i wish you the best of luck and i hope all turns out well

Probably about 6 months. I'd make it longer and require him to take intense driver saftey classes; a car can be a deadly weapon in the hands of an ignorant teenager who thinks he knows it all and frankly I don't like the fact that I and my loved ones are subject to the idiotic whims of the teenaged driver.

sounds like he aint ready to drive and isnt mature enough to be behind the wheel yet. if the law dont take his license away you should take his keys and tell him when he wises up he will get it back. hes gonna hurt someone or hiself driving is a privalige not a right
