I like grumpy's answer! I figure until the illegals have an impact directly on our government officials, nothing will change. They don't live with illegals in their own back yards, turning their neighbors into pigsty's; they aren't loosing their jobs to illegals; their families aren't being murdered and raped by illegals. Heck, did you know that when a person becomes a citizen of the US, they can say the oath in whatever language they prefer??? They DO NOT have to learn English even for that. That's outrageous! THANKS for letting me vent a little this morning. ;)

Don't be so quick to think that this will happen. They aren't stupid and they know the 2008 presidential election isn't that far away.Too many states past anti illegal propositions with flying colors for the Democrats to go too crazy. This vote was not an endorsement of illegals. It was a vote against the Bush administration and its failed policy's.I wouldn't hold my breath that amnesty will happen. They may get a guest worker program going but who knows.I sure wouldn't bet money on it at this point. We shall see as the days pass how this will turn out.
I think the powers in the DNP will take it very very slow on the issue of any amnesty.

They will do absolutely zip. What they should do is free up the backlog of people trying to get into this country legally. Do you realize that it can take up to 20 years depending on what country you're from to get here. This country needs the fresh ideas.

Funny, because it's the republican president that wants to make a deal with the Mexican President to allow these illegals to come here freely and make the ones that are here already legal.

Last I checked our Republican President.. isn't any better about it- he's all about amnesty (though he claims he's not about completely amnesty-just make it easier for them to become legal) and the guest worker program
