I often hear some centenarians mention that one of the ways they maintained their health was by chewing their food completely. Is this true and if so, why does this translate into good health and such longevity?

Many people eat way too fast. Chewing your food thoroughly cause syour mind to trigger and let you know that you are full. It takes your body about 20 minutes to process when it is full. So, by chewing your food completely and eating slower you are going to consume less becuase your body will know when you have eaten too much. Whereas if you eat quickly you are going to overeat.

Chewing (Masticating) and saliva are the first in the process of food digestion. Chewing is to ensure that the food you take in actually fits the esophagus, allowing it to enter the stomach where it is then broken down even more. Chewing also allows us time to slow down and appreciatte that which we've eaten. It triggers a chemical reaction in the brain helping tell you when you are full. It's also of noteworthy interest that high fructose corn syrup also blocks that chemical reaction.

Well, for one thing. If you dont chew your food, when your body tries to digest it, the acids won't eat it and use as proteins, energy or fats and it'll makew your stomach hurt. Another reason is some people who cant chew their food and have to make it into small pieces or else they will choke and die, or they're digestive system will become abnormal. Last reason I know is that if you dont chew your food, you might choke or figure out why your throat hurts from a fish bone.
