a lot worse this last year. This sounds awful, but how long do you have the condition for before you die? This disease makes your innards quash together and protude from your rib cage, which makes it hard for anything to work properly. Mum's in a lot of pain right now and it can't be cured and the next painkillers are morphine based.

I am the only one in my family to suffer with a mild form of the condition my doctor says it is unusual for men to get it but, someone has to be unlucky so I have it,the pain is like no tomorrow so I understand your Mother`s plight I am sorry but there isn`t at the moment a cure. Warmth is a very good comforter & if it was possible for your Mother to be spending time in a hot ish country this would help enormously the dry heat, not damp helps, good luck with what ever you can arrange for her comfort & your peace of mind.

My mother, who dies last year at 95 had this condition for some years. She was able to walk about fairly well considering her age and suffered mostly back pain. She was given tablets that dissolved in water and coated the bones (I sorry I can't remember the name)
I know that it can be a very unpleasant disease and I sympathise.

You should also get yourself checked out as I was told it can be heridatory.

I don't think it kills you like a disease, it can kill or severely injure someone if they fall or get up too quickly. She should definitely take painkillers. Vitamin D and Calcium will help a lot, and there are hormones that can help the bones. Your mother should start taking vitamins and hormones immediately. It's possible that she could get a lot better than now.

It depends on her pain threshold. The morphine will help with her pain but it will make her very drowsy and not with it. The answer is nobody knows. I do feel sorry for you and your mum.
