Oh, absolutely. When I sense a sincere question, even if I detect a belief opposite to mine, I try to give a helpful but civil answer. But, when a real jerk is looking for an argument, and makes it obvious, I try to give him what he is looking for.

I absolutely respect others rights to believe whatever they wish. And it would be great if everyone else respected my beliefs. But this isn't the case.
This is supposed to be a forum for asking a question and getting an answer. I answer many questions to the best of my ability. There are those who then find the answer, factual though it may be, to be offensive, because it is in conflict with their own beliefs. Which begs the question, are these people asking questions, or proselyting?

I certainly agree. How boring the world would be if we all were exactly alike. Our clashes are the price we pay for the benefits of diversity. And there are benefits; our differences are not just something to tolerate. They challenge us to examine our own positions and give us options and viewpoints to consider that we might not have thought of ourselves.
I get riled over a hostile question now and then and frustrated by ignorance or lies being passed off as facts, just like everyone else, but for the most part I'm here to express my viewpoint and learn from others. "Here's what I think; now, what do you think?"
It really is amazing what people can accomplish when they act like adults.

I answered this question for spooky as well. What I think is this.
People have to place judgement on others, because they live in the comparison of how others live, so they can feel that they are above the actions of others. (We all do it) NOw if we all accepted people for who they are, then that would mean we would have to question ourselves.. This can be very frightening for those who believe they are right, and then find out that in some form or another they are also wrong. Most have their preconceptions about everything, and catergorize people based on those preconceptions. If they had to accept them then that would mean they would have to change.. And change can be very painful. So it is just easier to see it in black and white, wrong or right.. THis is why people do it, they are afraid that in doing so they may have to look at themselves in the mirror, adn see that they dont like what theyre looking at... I wish you well

Of people here who usually hostile, all of us must understand that they may have been hurt in life. It's often a defense or emotional release to be "in your face" but the only way to counter that is with kindness & love.
Remember that divorce, illness and death of a loved one are things that abound. There is a lot of hurting people in the world who need a little extra compassion. Love them anyway.

I think the problem lies within those who understand that "character" isn't what gets one into Heaven; it's being obedient to God's salvation plan and living a sanctified and holy life thereafter. When man began to attempt to subvert the Word of God (a sin in it's own right), RELIGION as we know it moved to the forefront of our way of thinking as WE tried to justify OUR OWN ACTIONS by the works of OUR OWN HANDS instead of folloing God's plans laid out for us from the inspiration given the prophets. Ido understand how you feel about "agreeing to disagree" but that very pattern of thinking is what perpetuates "religion" instead of forward thought and worship.

Because peace can only be used as a means to an end.... a way of getting the competition's guard down so that they may be more easily dispatched.
Peace for its own sake is a direct violation of human nature and instinct.
It is for the safety of the self that all those who are different... i.e. potential threats to our individuality.... must be eliminated or converted.
This isn't something we decide to do... but a choice our subconscious makes for us.

I like the good in people. Sometimes good people who happen to be Christians get confused and think that they are good because they are Christians. Some bad people who are Christians think they are good because they are Christians. When you have a bunch of people, both good and bad, running around trying to convince you that they are good Christian men or women it can get a little confusing.
Oh and I don't like olives and I've never seen an olive branch before.

No I do not agree. There are some very hostile, negative people posting here. They are abusive, nasty, provocative, and feel entitled to insult with impunity anyone they wish. When complained about, they screech about the First Amendment......while denying the same right to others !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
